Mounts for a lifetime of enjoyment.
Mounts for a lifetime of enjoyment.

At Split Second Taxidermy, we believe that every animal deserves to be remembered and celebrated. That's why we take great care in our taxidermy process to ensure that each piece we create is the best that there is. We know how much every piece means to our customers and put everything we have into your mount just like it was our own.

For shoulder mounts you are welcome to take the cape off the animal and leave the head attached. We ask that you do not cut to far forward to give ample room for the mount you have chosen. There are lots of examples online. If you know your going to be mounting a big game animal do your best not to drag on rough surfaces as this will cause major irreplaceable rubbing, either put it in a sled or cape it in the field taking all the care possible to keep dirt and debris off the hide
For birds all the way from quail to turkeys for best quality try to get to them as soon as possible to reduce feather damage and loss and if using a dog try not to let the dog get to them. once harvested take care not to let them get ruffed up or broken feathers. Put the bird in a ziplock bag if it will fit or for larger birds double bag in garbage bag or contractor bag and freeze as soon as possible or drop it off to me.
There will be a fee for tanned hides if we have to take the hide off the animal ourselves prior.
We do not accept any fish work at the moment but are hoping to have that changed very soon!
All European mounts come with a standard hanger. There are other options for additional cost.
A show piece mount all begins in the hands of the harvester. We can do a lot but only so much on our side of things to get you the best mount we can but it all starts with field care. As soon as possible get your trophy cooled and frozen or brought to us so we can take care of it.
Field care: We will do our best to fix and repair any damage that has occurred in the field or transport process!
Big game and full body mounts: Keep the animal as dry as possible and keep as much dirt and debris off the hide and flesh side. Freeze the animal, cape or head as soon as possible to prevent hair slippage. Don't drag the animal if at all possible as this will singe and pull hair that is hard to replace and match.
Birds: For birds upland or waterfowl keep as dry as posisble as well and treat them like a fragile glass to minimize feather loss or breakage. Once you're done with the hunt put your bird either in a zip lock freezer bag and get all air out or double garbage bag based on the size and freeze. do not vacuum seal or put in panty hose as that can permanently damage feathers.
A trophy or memory is something you're going to look at on the wall forever and quality all starts in the field. So we ask to read the above statements to ensure you have a quality mount you can enjoy forever. Quality all starts in the field and we can only do so much on our end if proper care was not taken out of our control. If you have any questions feel free to reach out!
